Recent Shows Prt 3: Gram Rabbit…

Holly, Jen and I went to The Troubadour in Hollywood to catch a show by a band called Gram Rabbit. During this show I wrote a post on my Twitter that said “Gram Rabbit = amazing.” A friend of mine wrote back the next day, “you saw those pistol-toting, stripper-dancing, bunny suit wearing freaks? It’s crazy huh? Nothin like it aside from an acid trip”… I think that is one of the best descriptions of them ever. If Hunter S. Thompson could art direct a live show for a band, I’m pretty sure it would come out something like what I saw that night. I’ll try to explain better… The music is a mix of electronic / cowboy / indie rock / psyc pop / mmaaddnneess. I know it sounds strange but they pull it off really, really, well. The band has 4 people in it, 5 if you count the Bunny Rabbit character that does interpretive dance in the background. The stage show has video being played on a backdrop behind them. The fans seem to be bordering on cultic obsession. And the coup de grace: they give out bunny ears. Gram Rabbit put on, by far, one of the best shows I have ever seen… ever… yeah. Go see them, whatever it takes, go see them.
